But still, we are just a shadow following whoever it is Even a pretty grass is destined to be buried under the soil as someone steps on it Yeah, just hold onto it. No one is going to like it anyway As melting flowing, overflowing, then disappeared Rust, when I get blurred, tell me As days pass by, If it's a sin not to throw out sharpened me or I will never know that Yeah, just hold onto it. Acidic 06:06
Alright, I lose did you hear? I lose Does this machine have a mind when I ask of owning one And now, I’m a mess  with no consciousness My body’s an escalator but my brain? I don’t even own it Now, the only thing  that I can ever do  is seeing you beyond this headache They are all looking at me and they are all ignoring me Believing you as the paradise I became a parasite “Why do I always come back to you….” I may not be the one who you always wanted But I will never fail to wait you Cause I’m already melt, and shapen for you Why do I always come back to you? Now, the only thing  that I can ever do  is seeing you beyond this headache It’s true It’s true I can’t hide anything  from you from you It’s true It’s true I can’t hide anything  from you from you It’s true It’s true I can’t hide anything  from you from you It’s true It’s true I can’t hide anything  from you from you It’s true It’s true I can’t hide anything anymore

about

Vampire Weekend, A Place To Bury Strangers, The Cars, Weezer

STD Album, shortened from Self-Titled Debut album, is Kevin’s Retirement Plan (KRP)’s tribute of that personal favorite bands’ (such as Vampire Weekend, A Place To Bury Strangers, The Cars, Weezer) first albums are names of themselves.

This album is a mixture of several subgenres as KRP aims toward post-rock (since they have unnecessarily long songs) and post-punk (since they experiment with weird stuff). Starting from Math Rock and Noise Rock, it even reaches out to Power Electronics that listeners might feel confused at their first listening. Nevertheless, they will feel the harmony of several genres soon after.

“When, Where, Who, What, Why, How, Andante, Slowly”

Album’s first song, Andante, starts and ends with this line. Daytime stitched by numerous questions becomes foliage, but the answers are not solvable as they keep changing.

“You tied a knot in my mind that goes to my right hand’s end.” Is it only nothing but happiness to be really into something? Mellow is a song expressing the powerlessly seduced emotion and reaching into the noise as loop after loop adds sweet disarray.

Computer That Flew To Heaven starts with an emotionless band sound with reciting vocal. The title is from Steven Hawking’s famous quote, “I regard the brain as a computer which will stop working when its components fail.” But, it has an additional assumption of that “computer” has something more. The song plays out the friction between rationality and emotion throughout the band sound and even to the experimental electronic music.

The Modern Society starts as the sound of the metro station comes out. From the 1st verse to the half of the chorus, the song complains about the city life in English, then suddenly it starts saying, “We all are nothing but an ash” in Korean. The Modern Society ends in lonely guitar riffs as if the song realized the truth. But Jesus Freaks mercilessly breaks that calm complaint.

Some people might never have been to Myeong-dong. Although, there has never been a single person denying they have not seen “those people” loudly roaming the street while holding a weird picket. Jesus Freaks is about criticizing them and is complaining about the neverending fight that comes from a difference of belief, by shouting “It’s just two types of ink in the gradation of pink!”

The next song is called Silent Clamor, which is about an indescribable burden. The catchy melody is a homage to Korean indie-rock bands and 80s or 90s style English/American bands.

Jealousy, the most electronic music among the songs of STD Album, starts only with vocal, guitar, and bossa nova style electronic beat (according to what the machine says). While the song becomes more band sound-ish with the addition of bass guitar, tambourine, drums, etc., it remains the color of electronic music. This song is about wanting attention, then it cries out, “Is it still jealousy / When you don’t see where I am at” by wearing out of the thirst for attention. It begs “I need a remedy / not a comedy,” but the song ends without any specific conclusion.

The final song is called Acidic. The name came from the impression of the initial melody. But, since the lyrics contain the story of one surrendering after temptation (Does this machine have a mind / When I ask of owning one?), it is hard to deny the addiction theme. The noise coming out from accepting of being retained is the highlight of the song.

You might think this whole album is full of songs based on negative and depressing themes. But as we accept our negativity, we can live a much more satisfying and happy life: this is merely an art craft to entertain the listeners. After all, the album title is named STD Album.
